Description

We are looking for additional instructors to join our team. We offer lessons in both Western and English disciplines with a strong emphasis on horsemanship and in building a solid foundation with our students.

To apply:
1. send in your resume telling us about your riding and horse handling experience along with any other pertinent training, education, and experience
2. Submit to a riding interview where our Lesson Coordinator (possibly along with another instructor) will evaluate your riding
3. Undergo observation as you teach a mock lesson to a staff member or other instructor

Bonuses

Currently we utilize a 60/40 instructor/facility lesson income split and a financial stipend is available for administrative and maintenance expenses. Boarding for the instructor's horse is also discounted.

We are also designing a curriculum system for employees to gain useful knowledge and skills that they can carry throughout their lives and future careers while also providing a way to earn pay raises and promotions while they are with us.

Responsibilities

  • Working with horses and their riders
  • Designing exercises for the pairs to work during lesson sessions
  • Providing advice on proper technique for the discipline 
  • Troubleshooting communication issues between horse and rider 
  • Getting on horses to demonstrate correct technique if/ when needed
  • Teaching horsemanship skills such as grooming, ground handling, saddling, and tack cleaning 
  • Offering group or private lessons
  • Scheduling lessons, collecting lesson fees, and keeping track of payments for your students
  • Maintaining open communication with students, co-workers, and superiors
  • Working alongside others to maintain the best possible care and training for our lessons horses
We also provide riding camps in the summer and positions teaching at camp are available to instructors.
Responsibilities during camps include:
  • Help make sure horses are fed and ready for campers by 9 am
  • Plan and teach horse riding/ handling content in accessible modules throughout the day.
  • Have horse-related crafts and activities available, especially in case of rain
  • Keep environment safe for campers and horses
  • Be sure horses and all tack and tools are put away correctly at the end of each camp day
